If doing it makes your heart happy … it’s hobby.
If doing it makes your heart happy, and you want to become better at it … it’s passion.
If doing it makes your heart happy, you want to become better at it, and it also improves the lives of other people … it’s purpose.
It doesn’t have to be more complicated than that.
Many of us drift through unsure if we’re making the best of it or not. We question ourselves if we’re living up to our truest and fullest potential.
Questioning can help.
- Is this what I’m doing, making my heart happy?
- Do I want to become better at it?
- Will it improve other people’s lives?
Remember, it’s not a single choice decision. We can find activities that are hobbies, passions, and purpose.
One other note – This improvement in other people’s lives does not have to be magnanimous either. It doesn’t need to be world changing. If it changes your family, or your community for the better, that is good enough. World changing purposes are often accidental, stumbled upon. Rarely, are they ever engineered.
Life is about finding things that make you happy, things you want to become better at, and if the world is better because of it, it’s an added bonus.
