This short story is under 100 words. I wrote it on February 3, 2021.

The nerdy looking accountant notices missing funds.

He informs the CEO.

The CEO asks him to investigate.

Investigation takes some time.

CEO informs the board of directors.

They ask the accountant to present his findings.

Accountant accuses the CEO of stealing from the company, and shows hard evidence.

The CEO is fired.

Two years (the statute of limitations for accounting fraud) have passed.

Next day, CEO receives a money order in mail for $250,000 along with a note that says, “It’s the least you deserve for taking the fall.”

The note is signed by the accountant.
